Dear Committee,

My portfolio will consist of Writing Project 4 which introduces an argument for two specific copyright cases. The piece goes into detail about the effects of the copyright law in two different scenarios involved at the University of Illinois at Chicago and how it might be supported or opposed by the law. The cases involve one student that shared over 200 mp3 files through a peer to peer program and another student who chose to use the UIC fight song as a basis for an anti-war protest song. Writing Project 4 explains the two cases in different approaches to the copyright law.

Throughout my writing experiences through the past semester, it has helped me improve my knowledge in the four key rhetoric concepts: language, genre, consequence and context. My writing was improved by the peers around me by peer review by pointing out simple grammatical or spelling errors I have missed. The first draft which was reviewed by my instructor helped me extremely to stay within the focus of the paper. Also, the assignments and other notes I have made on the readings helped me note down several facts and insight into the copyright law that were beneficial to my Writing Project 4 in the end.

The problems that I struggled with were being focused and further explaining my concepts I was trying to portray. Sometimes I would end up being to vague on some areas of the paper that need further explanation and reasoning. Also, the use of pronouns in relation to key concepts became an issue of how clear the paper became. The overall process gave me a better understanding on what I need to improve on and how to make my writing stronger.
